London Fashion Weekend

I had the pleasure of photographing London Fashion Weekend, supported by Canon and Vodafone. I travelled down to London as the catwalk was being held in Somerset House near Covent Gardens, in a big marque type tent. Before we were to enter Somerset house, we had a meeting to explain what the day would consist of. We were told that we’d be in the photographers pit, which I was super excited about, especially knowing that such high professional photographers shot in the same area just days before me. We were told to find a spot in the pit ourselves, and really it was first come first serve. Luckily I pushed myself to get a spot I was happy with. There were two catwalks, both the same but one at 3pm and one 4pm (these ended up running late). For the first catwalk I knelt for the entire show, and was a little to the left, but for the second show I decided to stand and I became more in the middle, still a little to the left but I was happy with my positions. Hilary Alexander was the designer of this show and it was the new spring/summer collection 2013. It was split up into 4 catwalks named Dolls House, Urban Lifestyle, Eastern Promise and Graphic Art. It was a really fun show to photograph, I was nervous to begin with but after my first few photographs I loosened up and the nerves turned to excitement. I took around 600 photographs, so it’s been a challenge trying to choose my favourites. I’ve taken that number down to just under 100. I’m not harsh enough when editing my photographs, I won’t put the whole 100 to this post, instead I’ve decided to choose my favourite 30 out of these, which has still been difficult. I was pleased with the images I managed to get from this experience and I definitely wouldn’t say no if I was asked to do it all over again.
